2) People are a lot more polite in Canada as compared to other countries

3) Online addictions are finally dying out of boredom

4) Exercise is still the best form of motivation

5) Focus on less things are compared to the whole as you can't learn everything

6) Still a sucker for cheap clothes and eBay stuff

7) Some things are still irritating like roommates but everyday you learn to adjust , I wonder how my parents held it for so long

8) Money is a good resource as long as you spend it wisely

9) Gift of the gab is a very important resource for climbing up the ladder

10) QA is complex than it sounds to be

The Hills are Alive

After a Long period of time we were discussing about a taking a break from our dismay lives. Finally after months of contemplating and failed attempts to convince our friends to tag along , we were Off to the Hills without giving a F**k who came along . The journey began in the middle of the night when i reached a train station and got a bus after snooping around . The bus want exactly a deluxe heaven with the ac leaking water overhead giving us the idea that it was raining and we had already escaped the humid wretched environment of the city. The bus journey was awkward as the head rest was short, making it hard to sleep and the over sized human who sat next to me wasn't exactly comprising on space. So we finally reached mid way at early morning with my friend coming to pick me up at the depot.

We crashed at his home and slept like babies as the bus journey didn't give us a minute of sleep we wanted. In the afternoon we decided to leave for the hills as planned although we were already behind schedule. So we were off ...off to the hills as planned....leaving all our miseries behind and the first thing that came to my mind was ALCOHOL . Got a couple of beers and a bottle of rum and lucky me, all the driving was to be done by a teetotaler . Drinking the booze the journey seemed a blur but after some time the curvy road did take a toll on my stomach. We made our first stop at a car service station where we met along a couple of friends who had come to get their car serviced. We made it to a place called paragon , which was a nice restaurant. After strolling through the main market for a couple of hours we decided to take off, cause we didn't want to travel in the night.

We set off and the hills kept on throwing us its curious roads at each bend. Finally we reached the forest resort where we had decided to stay for the trip. It had beautiful rooms and unluckily my friend got bit by the dog of forest ranger who he decided to visit. a unlucky start but we somehow managed to get the shots done and my friend decide he didn't want to dampen our spirits so he encouraged us to go to the mall. A couple of drinks at a local pub and we were all feeling alive, which was followed by a nice dinner comprising of chilli paneer and chicken. Tired and wary we decide to crash at the resort. The next day was a pleasure to wake up to with the amazing weather beckoning us to set foot and enjoy the view at the top of the mountain. The mist was flowing through the hill as a river passing through a rock , giving it a surreal felling of heaven. The next day was also planned to be spent on the mall. After a couple of hours we were all so tired we decided to head back to the resort and pick something on the way to eat. We set ourselves for dinner and binge drinking , a friend of mine who had tagged along gave us the scare of the century when he woke in the middle of the night, sweating and saying these exact word " I Need Medical Help " . Me and my other friend tried to calm him down and told him to go for a walk to beat out the heat he got under the covers.

The next day our friend decided to leave as he wasn't comfortable and his anxiety was building on us. So we decided to visit our old friend and chatted . Then we hit the mall with the same old routine of drinking and eating. This time gin with lemon surprised me as it turned out to be an awesome drink. Realizing our journey was coming to an end we were a little sad but we decided to love for some cheap love but it turned out to be nightmarishly hideous so we were back on the road, and back to the same old routine we dreaded. An escape to the hills gave us a realization of life can be short so Keep it pleasant.

GMAT i-horror

I had been preparing for GMAT for a while, I started my gmat preparation in May and I am generally very weak in aptitude that is why I couldn’t break into the IT industry and still stuck in call centers even with an engineering degree. So I tried to break the jinx with motivating myself to go for it with all guns blazing. So I quit my job and started preparing for the GMAT I got the OG, Kaplan and Princeton books and even joined a tutoring course. After a period of 2 months I thought I was in the region of 600-650 so I gave a GMAT prep and ended up with a dismal score of 550 which came as a shock to me as I was hopeful to get a 650 as I had done the og books, Kaplan and Princeton. From this I realized that the stuff I was doing was not at all helpful the og math is a complete waste of time with only some superior questions in it but you need to build up the basics so you need to start from scratch my friends. The second thing was RC; I just can’t make out reasoning comprehension passages if they use high end languages. It’s a mental gap which comes in and I can’t draw a picture in my mind. I was good at CR and ok ok at SC. The tutoring course was of little help because all they used to do was give me an exercise from Kaplan and hope I get it all right. Kaplan’s tests are the toughest tests for beginners and I would say to skip them completely as they are of no use.

The next thing I did was postpone my GMAT for one and a half months hoping I would reach 650 by then. So I made up my mind and used to go the library and study from 11-5 for the GMAT and usually chill at home. I re did the OG and Kaplan books and started joining GMAT forums like gmatclub.com and pagalguy.com. Forums are the best place to find help and make a study plan. So after 1 month of dedicated study I took GMAT prep 2 and got a 580. I was heartbroken and realized that my dreams of getting are over, my friend with me who had given the test after two months of study got a 710 Q51 V34.This lead to frustrations which no one can imagine as you tend to give up and become a negative person with suicidal tendencies of course you wish the other person was dead instead of you..ha ha…that was dark ..Was it not…screw you guys….:-D.So I borrowed from books from my friends who had joined other institute for gmat and started doing their math books. A big mistake was I was just focusing on 700 level questions which made me give up my enthusiasm. I tried doing 1000 rc and was usually pretty good at it scoring at in the 70% range .So I decided to give my gmat Prep again and got a 610 a little disappointed as I was hoping for a 640 .This was wrong on my part as quite a few questions were similar and that is why I scored 48 on math but still I was weak in RC , I just can’t get a mental picture of what the author is trying to convey. I guess all that years of goofing around paid off…:-D.

So again I postponed my exam for a month hoping for a 650 and started working on redoing the og , kaplan and princeton books. I am telling you I can tell you the answers without even looking at them in OG I studied the OG so many times and started doing the tough 700 level question somehow and tried to remember how I did them. 10 days before the exam I retook the gmat prep 2 and got a 590 I skipped the RC questions cause I thought I was good at it as I was doing well in 1000 RC’s. I was confident enough to score a 650 now so I in the end days I just redid the OG and learnt the idioms and redid the sentence correction exercise’s.

So on the 30 of September I was all ready to give my GMAT .I prepared myself for it and learnt all the idioms. So there I was all ready and on the go for the GMAT. Arrived at the centre did the formalities and then started off with the awa’s .The argument was weird, I wrote shit, the essay was ok I guess. Then stated off with math’s till the 7th question I was doing well after that came the downfall, all questions I was getting were trick questions which you have to able to make out and it took me a lot of time to understand the concept before I could break the solution and I dread DS and I got a hell lot of ds which I couldn’t make out. I got so frustrated I started skipping long questions because I was short on time. I somehow managed to finish the math exam guessing on my ds and moving up on the last 7 questions. The math part was tough compared to the GMAT prep as it took me longer because the questions were a level tougher than the prep. Not giving up hope I moved onto the English section and thinking of getting a 38-40 excited me so I washed my face and got onto the verbal section. I was doing well until the 11th questions where I got a tough rc , I just couldn’t make out the meaning after reading it twice and focusing on every detail. The tough part was all the questions were inferences which were to be drawn out and I am bad at that so I think I screwed up my 2nd passage and went on to the sentence corrections one’s .I think the sc were a little tough but they were ok the main problem came when I came to the third RC I just couldn’t make it out, I tried it twice but no hope so I tried my best thinking that it will be alright. After that I knew I was short on time so I started hurrying up and the fourth rc was very simple as I knew I fucked up in making consecutive mistakes but tried my best till the end of the last question. I thought of cancelling the score but people with 450’s don’t cancel the score so I thought I will around 550 so I clicked on report my scores.

The result was a huge disappointment I got a 520 .Even the questions I guessed I think were wrong and there was no luck for me on that wretched day. Trying to focus on my humongous failure gave a feeling of quitting the GMAT and never applying for any university. This silly little boy couldn’t bear it any more, the thought of going back to call centers seem likes the best option as this silly little boy is not a scholar but an artiste. I tried to hide my face, but even the GMAT administrator noticed and he said
that’s impossible
,felt like kicking him in the nose but all I could do was smile and left the test centre with a devastated look of a person discovering he has lost his future battle. I am hoping to join a IT course or a call centre and hope to give the gmat again as my parents are still postivo that their silly little son will do well…………Well I hope so………

EVERYDaY IS THE SaME

Yes it dawns on me that I don’t feel the same when I look myself in the mirror, this life isn’t supposed to be the way it turned out, all the right turns turned out to be wrong. The only solace is that I am still alive and kicking. Yes it been 25 years but my life still seems like a pro level maze, I get up go to work come back , bitch in the way in and way out I guess this is what people do and will keep on doing. I guess it’s alright shopping does make me a wee bit better, it’s like a major tweak in my dead lifeline.
I thought I was social but I tend to ignore people that is way I am built I guess I don’t trust anyone it’s you and only you. You don’t know what is in the mind of the person next to you and you never will. Work is like in co-relation to what the client expects and all in in all it’s all about the money. Don’t expect sympathy because no one has the time or will.
The beer drinking does have it pro and con an hour of happiness leads to a day of misery….but I don’t know what else I can do…trying to escape the daily routine leads to the thought of me being alone so I try to keep it far away. They say that writing down your emotions leads to a better life so this is the way out I guess.

What a joke.

Naked Fingers –Put a RING on it ?

Usually people wears rings on their fingers to signify their marriage, but I have to wear it due to religious reasons, a diamond on a golden ring , first I was upset about it cause I would look married , how many people like to wear rings who are single and I have two a black one and a gold one , but somehow it seems a lot better than a naked hand, all that glitter and shine makes you see your hand again and again, even though I admit I have ugly shaped hands.

In terms of my progress due to the ring is zilch, nothing much has changed since I have worn it, no star opportunities, life is pretty much the same. Don't believe much will change in the future, but touching the ring in a public place gives myself a undivided attention that I feel people crave for people paying attention to detail. Seeing that diamond makes you feel you had a priceless diamond and life would be all fun and no work, but that is a thought everyone goes through for our own wonderful dreamland realizing how sad life really is..... :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR -Bring on 2009 let go 2008

Yes this year the celebration was very constructive as compared to my last year. I suddenly decided to pick my things up and leave for a hill station to visit my friend, one of my relatives were going that way so I decided what the hell, let's do it, called up my friend four hours before new year’s as a surprise, told him to meet me at the mall, and we were off looking for pubs with crowd , but since the bars were overflowing, we decided to make our own new year's party. We got ourselves some bucket chicken and a bottle of hot signature whiskey, picked up needed accessories along the way.
On the way we stopped the car along the road in pitch black darkness, opened up the whiskey and we were merrily singing all the songs that came up. We did try to get out the car but after three pegs down it was a alright to get out in the chilling winter and dance to the songs, and look at the sky with all the shiny stars among it and time comes to a infinite standstill and life seems beautiful. On new year’s eve we were drunk as hell and the cops showed up to spoil our party even as we were being congratulated on our cell phones, so we got in and somehow my friend managed to drive till his home. Then to our embarrassment we had to meet his parents but somehow we managed to compensate on our drunk looks and have dinner. So it was a Happy hic-hic new year.
So the next time you decide to pick things up and go on a random journey, don’t think twice. As for the new year resolutions I have decided to be more in touch with my friends and try to work things out for my future.

MARRIAGE – a wonderful silly ritual

One of my best friends got married last week and everyone seemed so happy at the wonderful celebration, even though the groom had a fit with all the stuff he had to do. Marriage is a social, religious, spiritual, or legal union of individuals, well if you’re from my part of the world you’ll realize that marriage is just a stamp of authority for the girl and boy to live together. Well I reached on time on the day for the song and dance evening , where people from the groom and the bride were introduced, followed by a competition between the girl and boy friend’s which luckily we won because some of the questions were rigged. As for me and my friends who are of the alcoholic nature we found our ways to intoxicate ourselves till the wee hours of the night in a true Brahmin wedding, believe me marriage seem a lot like “made In heaven “ when you’re drunk. Somehow something happens at weddings to older women, they tend to get each bachelor guy fixed up as if he was the next in line , even though I thought my friend was a little young to get married. Even writing a thank you note seems odd since you're bullshitting all your way through but what the hell tit for tat.

The next day the groom had to wake up early for it was a morning wedding, the usual hula-hoot, people perform their ceremonies , congratulate and then speed off to eat .My friend’s wedding was at a prestigious location in a major city , even a famous actor dropped in for a quick snap. Then in the evening was the reception which was kind of the same only the attire of the bride and groom had changed, making me wonder how much budget a wedding costs and how cheap would be my wedding and if it would be? Then the next day it was a private reception for people at a five star hotel , same thing but with alcohol , and by the end of it all the groom and bride were so tired that all they wanted to do was take a week long vacation.

My Pets

This post goes out for my dogs funny and yahoo , I know they have weird names but it’s a family tradition. well the first dog I actually got was a Pomeranian whom we called fluffy he was like a destructor and very aggressive but we had to give him away because of some owner issues and we were stuck with a black tiny Doberman pincher with his one leg in a cast. Funny was not so aggressive and was more of a calm and composed dog but used to run away after big dogs as if he was bigger than them. That small little fellow had some speed cause I used to run after him. He was extremely smart and even used to differ people from their way of dressing and more of a guard dog. He was with us for almost 12-13 years but passed away last year from kidney failure , well he had a great life cause I know he used to have everything we got and drank cola too.

Then last year my mom got a dog , a Labrador , he was like a little snowball when he came to us. Now he’s more of a racket monster who needs to play all the time and boy is he difficult to control , well I’ve been training him a lot but he only listens when there is food around so not going so great . I even wanted to keep a street dog but the family voted me out. all in all even if you hate your pets , one soft look will make you weak . They are great stress busters and even the long walk gets converted into good fun if you turn it into a fun filled exercise. So to all those people who don’t’ have pets and want to get one in the future be it any animal I would definitely recommend one but do check in with a vet before you get one.

Numerology - did you get your numbers right ?

I am bad at math but when somebody asks me about numerology i get up , actually i did become good at calculating cause i have done this so many times that it got embedded into my brain. Numerology is a relationship between numbers and living things and the main basis of calculating is finding the sum total of your name, birth date etc which you can do from the table given below, well do i believe in this pseudo science is a big question, well if your free and don't have nothing much to do then why not ? it's a fun exercise

A = 1 , B = 2 , C = 3 ..., S = 19 =1 , Z = 26 =8 and so on

Like nip = 5+9+7 = 21 = 2+1 = 3 so now you guys can look up your traits ...

1 Positive Traits: Initiator of action, a pioneering spirit, inventive ideas, strong leadership skills, independent, drives to attain, individualistic style, executive abilities, extraordinary will and determination, courageous.

11 See number 2. Spirituality is emphasized more, but in essence, the 2 traits, positive and negative apply.

22 See number 4. Exceptional projects possible, but in essence, the 4 traits, positive and negative apply.

and so the sum total usually represents your character , future etc. well i have usually found out a hell of number's for other people as well but their exact relationship still seems a mystery , but if you have faith it does somehow tend to predict a right path. You can find out a lot from your numbers such as soul urge, inner dreams , challenges and stuff related to your personality. well i have seen a lot of stars change their names cause it seems lucky for them so somehow my mom thinks i should my name also cause my life isn't actually going normal.Numerology can also be sub classified on your birth date, your birth date total etc so it can be said you have various personality types. Last but not the least numerology is a science based on self implying satisfaction and if you can get it , good luck to you. and you can try out this website as well

Hair Fall - going , going ...gone...

" oh god he's bald " said one of girls standing close to the bald person standing in front of me , making me realize the horrors of my future and how cruel people can be. Yes it is said you get the genes of your mother passed for your hair , but i would be happy if it would be from my dad's side , cause he still has some left on the top.i read this article once in reader's digest that it is best to let go and face the reality instead of hopping on measures such as transplant , rogain , ...to make your hair come back. I always thought that with the evolution in science there would come a age where a pill or injection would fix the hair pattern in a month, but i have still got my fingers crossed ,so excuses to skip the barber would not seem irrational.
My parents have always had a fit of hairstyle i kept cause it was usually middle parting with long hair, yes i have had my share of embarrassments , but i would give anything from being bald. The hair follicles falling each time i stroke my hair makes me put even more oil and shampoo on my hair just to keep them intact, i don't use gel cause it has it's side effects, but henna seems to be winner of the lot , applying it seems a pain, but the results are worth , it makes your hair feel more strong as if the scalp was bind together not to let go. I usually cut the extra long hair that keep cropping up from unknown places but each time i visit the barber he seems to notice that i cut it myself, so i have to come up with excuses that i was living in a hostel with no barber. Till then my friends , i will keep long hair till i get fed up or i go bald , but i would prefer a clean shaven scalp than some hair covering it , maybe i look cool bald like bruce willis or maybe not.... time will only tell

Flight Chaos

Well it had been long time since i had taken a flight. So somebody woke me up and my parents geared up my suitcase and i was off. After being dropped off the airport i went in to check in worried if i had extra luggage that i would have to pay for. So after standing in the line for ten minutes i showed the attendant my confirmed ticket print out. Then weighed in my luggage at 19.9 kg , well good going for me i thought. Then it started happening , first the attendant asked how i payed for the ticket, so i said "credit card" , and do you have the credit card you made the payment from , so i went on that my friend made the payment , so i had to pay in cash for my expensive trip on the other counter which was half a mile outside and to top that they sent a guy from the cash counter to verify if the payment was to be made. Then after hurrying to the check in counter after making the payment i got into the line realizing there were just 20 minutes to the flight. the attendant then replied " i am sorry , it seems we have lost your pnr number " well then she called on her supervisor , calling on her for help. Well somehow i did manage to get my boarding pass and i was off ,to the security check and then on the bus and then on the flight. Well i was quite happy i made it, and as the attendant told me i acquired my window seat, when a guy came up to me saying it was his seat, a little shocked i went to confirm on the print and so it was i had the next seat. Well got a little happy seeing the bubbly flight attendants happily greeting every dazed passenger as if we've been forced out of bed on purpose. Then we were off,a american accent welcoming us on board, somehow american seem to make you a lot safer on the flight, as if the american knew how to drive the plane even if a bird hit the engine. So drank a glass of water and tried to fit in my adjustable chair but when my right eye started blinking as if the wide 360 degree had been decreased to 270 from the right, but it went back to normal in a minute. Looked in front realizing a bald man was sitting right in front on my seat with a black mole on his right part of his skull, making me realize the horror's of my future, thanks to my receding hairline. So the plane took off , making me realize how superman would feel against the g force and the awesomeness of sheer power. so the plane began to climb , and i turned to see the sight outside , nothing but skyscrapers looking like small architectural models , when i realized the person at the window seat chanting a prayer , now that made me a little nervous, when suddenly a lady got up and tried to reach for the loo when a air hostess stopped her right opposite to my seat giving her the instruction to vomit in the plastic bag, oh lord not here.

Through that period i realized how cheap airlines had gotten not even providing passengers with lime water or refreshments for ear balance. So trying to concentrate on games on my cell phone rather than the irritating flight, made me realize a small developing headache reaching a migrane point, so i had a 20 buck juice i tried my best to sleep in a comfortable position when the small kid behind me started crying and pulling the top of my seat , so the parents finally intervened and i had my share of peace. The landing was smooth and i got off thanking the air hostesses as if i had a nice flight. Then got to the baggage collection, when i received a phone call from my sister enquiring about the flight, i told her it was ok but my luggage is still to come and most of the people have got it. Well she said it always seems to everyone that their luggage comes last , so pretending she was right stood there for 15 minutes realizing there was only one cardboard box left when an american came running to collect that too. Well now i was angry and went to enquire about my luggage to find out the specific airline didn't have a counter in that airport , so called up my sister and told her to inform the airline and read out the boarding pass number to her realizing that i was a mr venugopalan on the tag behind and my luggage had went to jammu. So i informed the authority there, and filled up the form , reassuring me that my luggage will be dropped at my home.well lucky for i had all the time in the world otherwise a scheduled person would have chewed their ass off. So the next time you see a person angry, frustrated seeming like a terrorist , think again cause he/she might have went through the ordeal of a "wonderful" airline experience

TATTOO – WHERE’s YOuR MARK AT ?

Well I kept seeing tattoo’s on people , and always wished I could have one. Tattoo usually for people represents a phase of their life they want to remember, but for me it would be just for style , a fire emerging from my half sleeved shirt would obviously catch everybody’s attention. well one of my friends did get one on his forearm and it was a thought, but it took him six grueling hours of pain sticking needles just for a text on his hands that will remain for his entire life, unless he removes it by surgery. well I always wanted a normal green ink looking tattoo but looking at some of the colored tattoo’s on people skin made me change my mind and a tattoo on my back with my name in Sanskrit or Hindi would be a great identification mark . And for the people with a creative bent of mind , they can keep drawing their own temporary tattoo’s with colored pens like this

PALMISTRY - do your hands hold your future ?

Yes those lines in my hand are not nerve endings they depict my past ,present and future as says so the book on palmistry. Well if I had known about this I had already consulted a palmist of what career option to take and how to get rich real fast but that is a far away story. So I did some research on the net and found out that more about this pseudoscience, well one of the facts that I got interested in palmistry was that one of my uncles was suffering from a disease that the doctor’s couldn’t diagnose , so her daughter seeing no hope left tried her versions of science to find a cure for her father, and one palmist was so sure that he said there is something wrong with his pancreas, and so it was. Was it a lucky guess or was it his knowledge that helped that palmist, but there lies another case where my friend made print out of hands of dead people and tried to verify from various palmists as to how long they have to live, not even single one of them could identify their death. and there are a hell lot of factors that a palmist need to consider before he tells you future like skin color, mounts, hand type, nails size ..etc. Well is it a good thing to study if you’re getting bored and have nothing else to do

The Basic lines of the Palm are as follows

The Lines of the Palm represent the degree of ease or conflict in a person's life. Few lines can mean few worries, however it may also represent a dull, uninteresting life. As in all things, the key is balance.

•The heart line governs our emotional life.
•The head line governs our intellect and our ability to concentrate and learn.
•The life line demonstrates how you look at your life and your personal control of it.
•The destiny line is often called the dream line because it represents working for a dream or goal.
•There are many minor lines that control other aspects of the personality and will.

In the end I would like to conclude that people make their own destiny , their own choices which govern their lines and how they shape about in the future but luck is what is already built in your hands and so be it.So here goes my hand and it’s million lines which I could mark with a red pen, I know what you’re thinking this guy must be a psycho , well I’ll agree if my hand says so

you can even try out this book online , it's quite good

MAKE YOUR OWN MINI DAIRY

Well it was a long time ago when I saw my cousin brother making a calendar in his notebook for calculating the days he went to college, that gave me an idea for a creating a mini diary which would remind me only the important details of the day like places went to , people met, just a brief happening s of the day so I wouldn’t call it a proper diary .well it has been 4 years since I have been jotting down facts in my mini dairy and the pain of keeping a mini dairy and it in fact has paid off I can now recollect moments I had no idea that had happened but the irony of the matter is that my cousin brother recalls stuff that my dairy doesn't even have, so people with weak memory here is a great idea for keeping your memories alive.Well another concept of the mini dairy of using a simple paper sheet and keeping in your notebook at all times so you keep on writing down stuff that occurs in a week or so , believe me it’s hard I have left out months but the fact I can recall my miserable yet happy life is a wonderful experience.here is an picture of what your mini diary should look like
